Birthday Spoils

My 31st Birthday got off to a slow start this year, with a three hour glucose test to check to see if I have this. Which I found out since then, that I do have, which has been a bit of a shock and caused no few tears around this place.

On a brighter note, after feeling like a pin cushion all morning, I went on to have a reasonable day at work, although a little tiring, D and I had a lovely dinner at Esca.

D gave me a JVC hard disk camcorder, something I've been wanting for ages, and will come in handy when the little one arrives.

WIP Quilt and Finished Pillow

I have the quilting bug, and having finished the first baby quilt, I am now working on a second. I bought this fabulous fabric by Anna Maria Horner at Patchwork on Central when we were in Melbourne a few weeks ago.

I love it so much, it is going to be the centrepiece of the nursery. Before emabarking on the quilt a couple of weeks ago, I quilted a pillow, to check out the effect. Finally I sewed it all together into pillow like form, and voila, here it is:

and a detail:

I have started the hand sewing of the quilt, which before I got to that stage, looked like this:

I am hoping it won't take too long to finish, as I have a stack of things I want to make over the next few months!

Baby Quilt

I have finally finished the Star block baby quilt! Hurrah! Apart from some slight hiccups with the binding, I am pretty happy with how it came out.

Now to a few less time consuming projects for awhile...
